Poison

Research is Fun

I learned a lot about poisons this past week.

I was working on a reel for my instagram account and decided to do poisons that can inspire deadly nature in worldbuilding and it was the best choice I could’ve made. I’ve always been interested in that type of thing and looking into it again awakened something in me. I designed a plant that I’m going to make native to a part of my fictional world (not sure which part yet) that’s super cool. It involves purple and green leaves, gray spikes, and a white ball of spores. I actually need to be careful or I’ll forget about the book and end up only developing fictional poisonous plants for the rest of my life (although that has a certain appeal to it!).

But it’s these aspects of worldbuilding that allow me to immerse myself more and more into my story and even out those plot holes. I already know that I’m going to need to completely re-write a significant portion of my first draft to accommodate some of the character and plot changes I’ve decided on. But that’s something I’m really looking forward to - it doesn’t seem daunting like it might have before. It’s a new adventure.
